  1. I see on a Facebook MTH One Gauge group I'm in that the new 4014 Big Boys have started shipping (this was item 70-3049-1). Pics and an unboxing video were uploaded.
  2. Sweet layout - it’s huge for indoors. Is that your house?
  3. Joe good point - I should have clarified. I ordered #1943 from Ray too, but like you don’t have it yet (I did order it very late, after I got my first SD70Ace - I wanted to make sure I liked them first). The one you see here I grabbed from a train store in PA (Nicholas Smith).
  4. Noob, there was one up on eBay not too long ago. If you are serious I can reply back here when/if I see another one. Or give me your email. thanks keith
  5. I really like the new MTH SD70ACe’s and there’s only a few videos on YouTube that showcase them, so I made one of mine pulling some Abrams and tank cars (complete with DPU). (Yes I know the semaphore is the wrong way).
  6. poking around on google, I found this site. This guy seems to make exactly what I want, a signal light that reflects the state of the switch: https://hollywood-electronics.com/block.html does anybody on here know of this site and have experience with the products?
  7. Hi all, Question: I have zero signals or auxillary control on my MTH DCS layout which is DC powered; all of my switches are Aristo and I control them manually with my finger because I like running my trains, not fixing things. I would like to connect the LGB signal 51960 (American Semaphore) to one of those aristo switches and have it reflect the state of the switch, meaning when I flip the switch with my finger, the semaphore changes. I've done alittle reading and see that the LGB signal runs off "half rectified AC", so seems like I need a converter from the DC power of the track plus the state of the switch of some sort. Anybody have any idea how to do this? I think what I want here is not normal based on the LGB documentation. If someone knows of a native DC powered solution to show the state of the switch, I'm open to that too. thanks, keith
  8. Thank you both for the replies. Got the MTH O scale EOT and was able to modify it to work on the MTH g scale truck. I wanted it all self contained on the truck like the I gauge one so it’s easy to swap cars. I basically took it apart, dremeled the rounded end off the coupler arm as well as the whole bottom so that it was flat. Then heavily modified the plastic arm on a g scale coupler arm after unscrewing and removing the MTH coupler so that the O gauge one with a now flatten bottom sat nicely on the one gauge arm. Glued those together and then glued the box the holds the circuit board to the bottom of the arm. I may do another one and extend the wires to the circuit boards so I can mount the box on the other side of the truck where you can’t see it. Then gave it a quick paint with semi glos black to hide all my mistakes with the glue. Only the tank car picture is painted. I wasn’t going for model quality, just something that works and looks good from 5 feet away; I’m happy with it. Thanks again for the help.
  9. Thank you Jan and Nick for your replies. That o gauge one has the nice housing I’m looking for, so I’ll try that. Jan, thanks for those pics of it on your one gauge, never would have guessed it would look ok. Googling it I see some o gauge guys saying it’s too big for their scale, so win for us I guess. . In the box car picture I assume you tied the power to an MTH truck power pickup, like on the MTH cabooses? Nick thanks for the video. Since starting this hobby a few years ago I’ve gotten better at soldering, but still struggle sometimes. Ray’s suggestion to get a real soldering iron setup helped a lot. I still find myself wanting a third hand to hold something when soldering sometimes. :)
  10. Does anyone know where I can get an EOT device for an MTH truck (coupler mounted)? Was thinking of stealing the circuit board and LED from an MTH caboose, but would still need to find a quality 3D printer to make a housing for the LED. Before I did all that, I thought I would ask on here. I love the new SD70ACE’s but I keep wanting something at the end of my train and I don’t always feel like having a rear power unit.
  11. Firefighters riding a "fire train" in to fight the Dixie fire in the Feather River Canyon. Feels like they are riding into war. This fire made its own thunder and lightening last night (after this video was taken).
  12. That is super cool. I would guess if they went through the effort to make a board and whistle for the Hudson they would have produced more than one. Makes me wonder if when they cleaned out the warehouse last year if there were any spares sold off. Has anyone seen one? I watch eBay pretty closely and didn’t see any smoking whistle parts come up, Hudson or otherwise. jppilot, would love to see a video of it working once you get the DCS setup going.
  13. It would appear the rio grande’s are delivered. Pretty sweet.
  14. Follow up post. The USAT figures fit great in the MTH passenger cars for me. At least currently, there seems to be 2 sets of USAT people, a "regular" set which seems to be 1950's-ish, and another set that is specifically labeled 1920's. The heads of the people and the girth of the people (ie their butts) are larger for the 1920's people, but I found both sets fit in the seats, other than the 1920's figures that have a suitcase next to them. Overall I prefer the 1950's set which is the set Jerry posted in the pic above, and all of those fit in the MTH seats without mods for me. I wish USAT had a set of standing figures, especially for around the bar in the observation car., but doesn't seem like they have ever made something like that. Thanks again Jerry.
  15. just saw this thread. I vaguely knew of an imax with 4449 but had never seen the above preview. It appears it will be out this spring: https://www.stephenlow.com/project/train-time/#:~:text=Created for giant screens by,giant screen theaters Spring 2021.
  16. Thanks Jerry for this posting (in 2016) about people that fit in MTH cars. I'm new to g scale (2019) and had been trying to find figures that fit in MTH cars. On ebay when I search for 1/32 figures all this stuff from China or Hong Kong kept coming up and when I ordered them they didn't fit in the seats and were clearly not 1/32. I think they are 1/29 or maybe slightly bigger and were dishonestly marketed in separate auctions as either 1/25, 1/29 or 1/32 even though they are literally the same thing. Now that I know the USAT figures fit in the seats I'm going to order me some. Looks like there are some for sale on ebay. Thanks also for pointing out I should expect to have to sand a bit to get them to fit.
  17. I’m impatient to get mine (up yellow, bnsf), so I google around every few days to see any chatter. Didn’t hit any of them but did fine this second video on 41:
  18. Anybody thats got one yet care to share some videos?
  19. I see a posting on eBay for the NS one, so those must be shipping too.
  20. It’s interesting how they placed the motor vertically - it’s more like the VO1000 than the dash8.
  21. Has anyone tried "ELO" (Testors Easy Lift Off) to remove MTH decals? When I google around I find some other forums (0 gauge) for suggestions removing MTH decals and "tampo pad printed graphics".
