  1. I have nine unused surplus turnout motors with signal lights available for the shipping (~< 9#) from S.E. Michigan. Reluctant to throw them out so let me know if you have a use for them.
  2. Thanks for posting that! I am impressed with the ballast. Can you share details about what is being used?
  3. Oh no.. that's not my work. My goal is to make something that won't look too out of place next to it. My other expensive and time consuming summer hobby (an old sailboat) has dominated my time this season. I'll be looking for more advice when I do get back to it.
  4. Good video. I am curious about the antenna on your remote.
  5. Looks Great! Burned out the smoke unit on my Aristo Pacific long ago. Time for an upgrade. How did you power that smoke unit?
  6. Beginner appreciates the opportunity to see your technique.
  7. I was wondering about adding smoke units to my Bs. Perhaps battery powered, with a small relay to detect when the A units are smoking?
  8. Makes you want to join them for the ride!
  9. I shoveled the snow off the tracks once in February. That proved to be an invitation to my daughter's Yorky. Spring track cleaning was.. well unpleasant.
  10. Speaking of Hudson traction, I've destroyed another set of tires and I'm wondering if it might just be the result of leaving it set on the tracks (in semi-heated garage) over the winter. Seems like they stuck to the track. Guess I need to get set up for more frequent winter runs.
  11. Ok, I'm getting to a point where I need to know more about that "green putty".
  12. We had dairy cows but Grandma lived in town and I remember putting her empties on the porch. A larger truck would come from the Coleman Creamery to pick up our milk cans and leave clean empties. The C&O (ex Pere Marquette) in front of the creamery is bike path now. Great looking truck. Structures and such are tempting but where the heck am I going to store those in the winter? I can barely squeeze the trains in the garage now.
  13. I run all of my MTH equipment over my Code 250 sections. I also have a couple sections of Code 215 that are hand spiked so the spike heads barely stand proud of the web. I have not detected any flange diameter problems in any of these cases. Neither of my F7 B units or unpowered A units have the shoes, or brushes. Jens, I had just finished watching an episode of the Danish TV series Borgen (with subtitles) when i came across your post. If you end up replacing the DCS electronics for DCC decoders I would be interested in the DCS bits.
  14. The pan is #85014 Fiberglass Nesting Box from US Plastics. Pricey but perfect. One bottle of Scalecoat just covered the bottom ribs enough to immerse the car body sidewall. Its a long shot for a beginner but I'm hoping to end up with a baggage/RPO car for my MTH Northern Pacific passenger train. Here is the color goal:
