  1. I say that the Danish and Norwegian powerline system are the same. Thats not true. Norway are one of very few countries that not have a earth (ground) line in from the power station. In Norway all ground connection are local. The ground are tied to a big copper wire in my house concrete floor, in the basement. All buildings in Norway have a ground that come from the earth around or in the buildings ground floor. Old buildings have a big copper pole driven down in the geound, and get electrical ground from there. Ivar
  2. Yes I see that. Good it's back.
  3. Not much news here. Have got the brass for making blades on the rotary head. Had to bend them in the right angels, and then soldering. Had to find a place to do the silver soldering. May be in the garage. Much to do outside with not rr related, before ice and snow arrive. Have a lot of firewood to work with. Have also started to work on the Yaquina Lighthouse in 1:29. I would try to make some of the cast iron parts on it, casting them in pewter. Had to make them in plastic first.
  4. In 1:25 it must be realy big, wow. I have been so lucky that at have visited your country 4 times. My daughter was first an exange student a year in Superior, NE. Visited her there. Drive from Chicago to Nebraska, and over to Colorado, Wyoming, Souht Dakota and back to Nebraska. Very nice trip. Next time she would study she goes to Sioux Falls, SD. Was there to and took a roundtrip again. Then she was home two years and then goes to Oregon to take a master. Was there two times visiting her, so I have driven the coast road from Washington to San Francisco both winter and summer. In the vinter From San Francisco to Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, back to Oregon. In the summer, 4th of July in Monmouth where Western Oregon University are. Then down to Crater Lake on over to the great Yellowstone National Park. Then back to Oregon via seattle, Washington You have a wonderful country. It's so different from Norway.
  5. I work on a Rotary. Have to make the rotary head. The rest are finished. I have made from a LGB P42. I got a frame and the hood without boggies from ebay. I have mounted 2 USA Trains GP boggies on it, and made a front and the house for the rotary plow. It have 7.2V batterypack for the rotorhead, and a bigger 14 Type C battery (6000Ma) for the power of the engine. It also goes on trackpower. Hope to finish it soon, Just have to get someone that can cut the blades on the rotor head, so they all will be like. Same size and weight. Got to get it in balance. I have since the picture where taken, repainted it in grey and all windows and panels are in place again.
  6. Nice. The electronic parts in mine are for charging and a volt regulator with voltmeter for the brush motor. I use self blinking LED, to. A must if you have trees near the track. And here in Norway leaves are falling now, and from many trees all have fallen down allready
  7. Like that engine. Very fine night train.
  8. Was in Cheyenne about 15 years ago, and I was wery impressed of the size. But I think that the Challenger I saw in North Platte, had better proportions. But it was a great engine.
  9. Made me a Broom car from an Aristocraft work caboose(with track cleaning pad), and an brush unit from Bill Wilcox http://www.elmassian.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=176&Itemid=211 Cleaning the top of the track and also get all those leaves away at the same time. I have a TrainUPS unit from a company that was named IPTrains in it. They are gone, but before the take there site down, they gave us all data needed for building the units at home. There is one batterypack and a charger unit. It works like a UPS for computers. If there are power in the track it uses that, and if not use battery. Standing still on track (I have constant 24V) it charges the battery. You cant see hove it go from one to the other. I use this in all my engines, and a Crest Revolution system to drive them. The charging unit are in front of the battery pack (14AA 1,2V NiMh batterys. There also is a voltage regulator with vottmeter to get the 11V I use on the motor. Motor works with 9V-12V. The two switches are for the motor on off and for isolating the batterypack when storing. The LED between them, light up to indicate there are power on the track. On the roof are 4 very bright flashing yeloow LEDs, and a headlight converted to LED(very bright) from and Aristocraft snowplow. That is another build I have done. A Russel Plow. I used aA caboose and the plow from the plow car, made some wings from scratch, and there I have a Russel Plow. Have just tested the Boom car and it works very well.
  10. Anyone knows what happend? Can't get on the site. Just got 403 Error Forbidden, and It say Hostgator.com host this site.
  11. The same as I have done in my power lines. Volt and amp for train power, and just volt for my 5V and 12V for light and acesories. Ivar
  12. The outputs are floating. First, I have got me a device that cut the power line if there are any leak to ground, that all my power packs will use. To overcome the other problem, I have find som 45mm plastic track that looks ok. I wil put 3 lenght of those, every place I have where the power packs meet. That will isolate the powerpacks to the one power district it power and with no way to short them. The plastic track will be longer than my longest engines, the RDC. Cant get any short then. I have a system called Train UPS, with 24V in the track and batteries in the engines. They got charged as soon as they stopped, and when run, they will use either track power or battery power. Works fine, never had any problem with dirty track. I have a parking track for engines, where they got charged. Ivar
  13. Thanks for the answer. Youre right, the Norwegian and Danish system are the same. I will check as you say, and if they float, I will try, and see what happend. On my HO DCC system I have 4 booster, all 5 amp and 14V. 2 of the boosters are regulated power without a transformer. The other 2 has a transformer each. Goes without a flaw. Can park over the isolated track with one truck on each side, nothing happen. No short or smoke. When driving over you cant see anything one the engines. They glide trough.
  14. Hi! I have a question of how to connect several power units to my tracks. I have 4, 24V 15A regulated power supplies, that will power 4 different parts of track. Could I just isolate 1 track (positive) and use the other as a common rail, or will this make a short. On my DCC, H0 rr I have done this (4 boosters), and it goes fine, but wonder if the regulated power unit will do the same. The power packs will be placed on 2 different places. I have used two tool boxes with 2, 24V, 1, 5V and 1, 12V regulated power units. I use trailer contacts for connecting them to the rr (see the end of the box). Ivar
