That's exactly what the primer is for! You can block sand the primer if sandable. You could skim coat any areas with a sandable filler. Some guys use auto body fillers, and then block sand. Don't put it anywhere you can't sand.

You could also just weather the areas to look like rust has taken it's toll too. Depends on what era you want it to represent? As delivered or near end of service?

Thanks Joe. Today, I am making a mold for the various undercarriage parts for the baggage car so when I build some more heavyweights I can use them.  I decided to put the batteries in the loco. free weight, also the bearings in the baggage car sure makes them roll easily, the loco won't know that it is pulling anything, even with one small motor. Bob.

I finally got it running on the test stand with sounds and boy it sounds good.  It has the sounds just like the prototype with the  out of synch. piston sounds.  I will post a video soon so that everyone can hear. Bob.
