Switch Radius Recommendations

Yardtrain, the #6 wye is still a #6 in each direction from straight.  That is how the # was derived.

Edit:  maybe the pics will clear up how you are being misguided:  The #6 is NOT 6' radius.  Attached is a pic of a 10' Diameter switch laid on top of a #6 switch.  The radius of the #6 is much bigger than the 10' diameter switch.  Also the #6 is better than 50% longer than the 10' one.  The GG1 would constantly derail on the 10' while passing right through the #6.    If I may add, my 1: 29 Hudson was easily able to negotiate the 10' radius switch so the 1: 32 MTH Hudson will breeze right through.

The Aristo #6 Wye is a #6 switch...whoever called it 2 number 3's obviously doesn't know their ass from their elbow!

Here's a #6 lying on top compared to a #6 wye...The largest engine I own is a USA Trains Big Boy that will absolutely not handle any curve tighter than a 16' diameter and it will handle #6 switches...because that's what they are.

Here I offset the #6 a bit so can see the #6 wye underneath and how the radius of diverging track is exactly the same.

Chuck,  Thank you for the pictures of the switches.  Why did they make the switch naming so confusing?  So a #6 WYE is basically a #6 switch but it turns left and right instead of Straight and left or right
