Rayman4449
The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad has been posting videos online but appears to be only on Facebook. This is a great overview of the different things they are working on along with giving an idea of the original condition of the various parts and components. Sounds like they are looking to have the engine finished early next year.
Rayman4449
If everything stays on schedule they plan to have 1309 running for excursions starting July 1st, 2017.

enginear joe
Hmmm, if I go to the site, I don't get any links to the 1309 tickets. I must be looking at it wrong?
Rayman4449
Not sure. Maybe send them an email. This is one engine I'm really looking forward to see running

Rayman4449
They are still making progress: https://westernmarylandscenicrailroad.blogspot.com/2017/07/1309-update.html?m=1 Tuesday, July 11, 2017 1309 Update (Photos & Video) On Sunday, July 9: The first of thirty-six 5.5" flues went in. Each of these flues is 23' long weighing about 300lbs, and are the longest flues of any locomotive in operation. 90% of the tubes (203 to be exact) are cut and fit into the boiler, but they still need to be rolled and finished. 38 more tubes need cut and fit. Chuck
I smell bull with their whole operation. The WMSR sent those drivers to Strasburg to have new tires fitted back in late 2015 and when they got them back they left them sit outside. Chuck
It's starting to look like the PRR K4 1361 situation all over again with 1309. They're out of $$$ and someone on the crew has been arrested for theft because he was caught selling parts at local junk yards. And now I read where the WMSR is looking to buy F Units instead of spending another $800K on 1309. Even Trains magazine is being real quiet about the wholes mess esp. since they promoted some fan trips.
