Rayman4449
The New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society posted this: And in other steam news, while 611, 2926, and 4014 may be generating a lot of excitement, there is N&W Y6a #2156 in route to Roanoke from St Louis, photographed earlier at Pritchard. The 2156 is supposed to spend 5 years at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke where she was built in 1942. Officially there are no plans to restore the big 2-8-8-2 to operation. . . yet. There is going to be a lot of big steam excitement in the next 5 years and we at NMSL&RHS are glad to be part of it.

Rayman4449
Received this in the mail today: Sounds like the Y6a may likely be a permanent resident of Roanoke, VA. Get ready this engine may very well be restored in the long term.

Razor_Antilles
Even though it's highly unlikely, I really hope they make the decision to restore this locomotive to operational status. It'd be awesome to have an east coast mallet-style monster to help spread the joy of steam trains.
