Rayman4449
Took some time to take photos of the MTH Dash-8 to share with everyone: (Note: This engine has the pilot with wide open slot for if the user decides to attach the coupler to the motor block as opposed to the frame. The engine comes from the factory with smaller opening pilots that screw in place. Dash 8
Hi, some Pics..... I am 58years old and my Layout is 1/32 scale, Track is one gauge Code 200, DCC or DCS, mostly MTH The Dashes are the best of MTH, the couplers are Kadee 1906 and the pilots are closed, looks much better. And sorry, i dont speak good english. Thanks Jan
Rayman4449
Welcome Jan and great photos. The pilots do look very good closed up. So you are able to run on code 200 without any issues with flanges?
Dash 8
Hello, Thanks for your answer. Yes of course, it worksCode 200 is about 5mm highThe flange may be ca.2,6 mm or more high.MTH had 3 mm, sounding a little too much, clink on the ribbed platesThis is normal as Märklin track or Hegob etc.Older MTH things must be reduced.Since about 2010 or so MTH reduces itself to about 2.4 mm height.Rolling stock that I can buy here. The Harley Dash 8 had to be changed and the CNW.This is made easy. xl_special
Jan, your -8's are beautiful. Look like the real thing. Great work. Could you tell us how you changed the wheels. Did you use NWSL or MTH replacement wheels? Thanks for the pictures, Larry
Dash 8
I'll try it, Larry The MTH wheels for diesel are all the same size.Pictures of the Dash 8 I have not, but from the F7, the same job. On the pictures you can see it.I use MTH replacement parts. On all diesel the Silders be removed. For indoor good enough. The wheels with traction tires are replaced with new ones without. You can take a lathe. If not there, as in the picture. The wheels reduce from 38.5 to 37.3 mm. With a fine file and sandpaper etc. Please note, do not remove the insulator, only the wheel disc.Otherwise the wheel wobbles later. Thank you Jan
