ATSF 2926 Restoration Project (www.2926.us)

Recommended Posts

It's that time of the year again to look at making donations to your favorite steam restoration project!  There are many to choose from so the more the better!  It's important because these efforts could go nowhere without funding and with even just a little money from a lot of people can make all the difference and fully fund all of these efforts.  So take a few mins and send a donation, even something as small as $5.00 adds up so please send something.

Here is a great video about the history of the 2926 and it's restoration.  These guys have a first class operation going on over there and deserve our support and backing!

Ray,

I'm all for the restoration of 2926 and all steam that's still savable.  But, in your back yard (Topeka, Kansas) is another Santa Fe Locomotive that could easily be ruined beyond recovery.  I'm speaking of 3463. There is a group trying to "modernize" her and take her to 120 MPH to prove their point of modern steam power.  I have been told this same group has tried this before and already ruined one locomotive in a previous attempt.

Anyone who wants to help, let me know if you need the contact info of the group in Topeka who are trying to preserve 3463.  I'm in touch with their legal council.

The ATSF #2926 crew is looking to raise $200,000 for an engine house and needs your help!  Everyone take a moment to go out and donate $5.00 and spread the word!  Email all your friends that are passionate about steam to help them reach their goal.  If each person does this they will reach their goal and then some.  Just need everyone to chip in a little.

From watching the vid's and listening to the info, am I understanding that the building (engine shed) will be on its own?  Info shows the engine shops where she was built as being redone into a museum as well (Wheels etc.) - why isn't an effort made to locate in the shop building in a portion of the building?

Please donate to their GoFundMe campaign to help build the engine house for the 2926:  https://www.gofundme.com/SantaFe2926?utm_source=internal&utm_medium=email&utm_content=cta_button&utm_campaign=upd_n

They are doing a first class restoration job and this engine needs to be kept under protection!
