xl_special
As I'm sure all of you are aware of Weaver Models shutting down the last day of July. We are very lucky, because someone saw the worth of Scale coat paints and purchased the entire line of paints. I recently purchased some paint from them and I can say their service was actually better than Weaver models was; Here's a link to their homepage: http://minutemanscalemodels.com/ We've lost so many painting options over the last two years, its good to still have scale coat around. Chuck
Boy I tried that Scalecoat II for plastics paint and found it horrible to use. Took a week to dry...reminded me of using cheap Alkyd equipment enamel and wouldn't be surprised if it is...if it was overcoated too early it would wrinkle...the NYC grey paints that they sell is nowhere's near the right colors...the light grey was more like EL grey and the dark grey was closer to NYC light grey...no thanks as I'll stick with Tru-Color Paint
Kevin Strong
Chuck, was that perhaps a new formulation with the new owners? I've used Scalecoat II both spray and out of the bottle with great results. (Their "GN Green" is spot on for the green the East Broad Top uses on their coaches.) I've used TruColor as well, and really didn't notice any difference between the two in terms of how they covered or dried. I didn't know Scalecoat was in danger of going away, but I'm glad to see them continue. I've still got more passenger cars that are going to need paint... Screwy Nick
Since this is about paint, has anyone heard about Floquil? I think they were taken over by 'Testors', please set me on the right track, thank you.
xl_special
Floquil is no more. You're right, Testors picked them up and then dropped the entire line of paint. Because many people were so upset about this,Testors added a couple of Floquils colors to a new line of paint called "CREATEFX" which has the flat black that I like to use on my metal wheels. Available on their website #79204" Hope this helps, Larry
Screwy Nick
Larry, thank you, I also liked their black's. Hope they continue the Brunswick Green, but doubt it.
