Made me a Broom car from an Aristocraft work caboose(with track cleaning pad), and an brush unit from Bill Wilcox

http://www.elmassian.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=176&Itemid=211

Cleaning the top of the track and also get all those leaves away at the same time.

I have a TrainUPS unit from a company that was named IPTrains in it. They are gone, but before the take there site down, they gave us all data needed for building the units at home. There is one batterypack and a charger unit. It works like a UPS for computers. If there are power in the track it uses that, and if not use battery. Standing still on track (I have constant 24V) it charges the battery. You cant see hove it go from one to the other. I use this in all my engines, and a Crest Revolution system to drive them.

The charging unit are in front of the battery pack (14AA 1,2V NiMh batterys. There also is a voltage regulator with vottmeter to get the 11V I use on the motor. Motor works with 9V-12V.

The two switches are for the motor on off and for isolating the batterypack when storing. The LED between them, light up to indicate there are power on the track.

On the roof are 4 very bright flashing yeloow LEDs, and a headlight converted to LED(very bright) from and Aristocraft snowplow.

That is another build I have done. A Russel Plow. I used aA caboose and the plow from the plow car, made some wings from scratch, and there I have a Russel Plow.

Have just tested the Boom car and it works very well.

Ivar,   seems like we think alike.   Mine doesn't have all of the electronics,  just a rechargeable battery.  I also removed the track cleaning pad, I have SS track or run LS trains so have no use for tha.    I only use it to brush the fallen debris off the  track.  The LED's on the roof are self blinking from Radio Shack so no additional electronics are needed to drive them in my case.    And it does a magnificent job of clearing the track, I'd recommend the kit to anyone.    From the dust on the roof you can see I haven't had opportunity to use it yet this year,  but with fall coming that will change.   A great addition to any RR be it ground level or elevated, we all get the same fallen debris.   LG

I know Kidman's sells a whole unit, or just the broom part. I had more leaves than usual last year, might think about one, but did cut down another tree this summer. If it is windy enough I may be okay, I live out in the country so get more wind than folks in town.

Nice.

The electronic parts in mine are for charging and a volt regulator with voltmeter for the brush motor. I use self blinking LED, to.

A must if you have trees near the track. And here in Norway leaves are falling now, and from many trees all have fallen down allready

Ivar,  here in South Jersey we are just entering the fall season, although the egg corns from the trees can make enough noise on the roof to wake one in the night.

Last year I started a Snow Blower project, it didn't get far before it went on hold (built a chicken coop) but will restart it very soon.     I think you have a lot of snow where you are so if you have any suggestions for the snow blow they'd be appreciated.     Thank You.

I work on a Rotary. Have to make the rotary head. The rest are finished.

I have made from a LGB P42. I got a frame and the hood without boggies from ebay.

I have mounted 2 USA Trains GP boggies on it, and made a front and the house for the rotary  plow. It have 7.2V batterypack for the rotorhead, and a bigger 14 Type C battery (6000Ma) for the power of the engine. It also goes on trackpower. Hope to finish it soon, Just have to get someone that can cut the blades on the rotor head, so they all will be like. Same size and weight. Got to get it in balance.

I have since the picture where taken, repainted it in grey and all windows and panels are in place again.

Sean,    WOW, your coop is MUCH MUCH bigger than mine, but some of the same features as nesting boxes.    My run is much smaller also as I anticipate no more than 6, and it seems you have a rooster,  and I won't.   Looking just for eggs and no trouble from neighbors.  I love the close up shots of the girls.   What is in the net boxes handing in front of the coop door?

On another note:  I have a lot of cutting on the table saw for another project, and will capture all the saw dust I can, as per your suggestion last year.  I am chomping at the bit to get the rotary rolling again.    Thank You for remembering.

Ivar, great looking model.   I started in the opposite direction.  I am building the rotary first as I haven't even decided what it will be installed in,  probably a box car of some sort as most of my stuff is pre diesel. I also model in 1:29 and 1:20 so not sure what scale it will be either.

I'm also hoping to be able to blow in either direction as the vanes will have some what of a V shape, but that is to be seen after I put together the front assembly and test it with saw dust as Sean suggested last season.    LG

Sean,       What is in the net boxes handing in front of the coop door?

Nick I tried to upload a pic .. but ... keep getting : Upload Skipped (error407)

To answer your question we use to put treats( grapes, vegies etc. they will almost eat anything) in the suet feeders

.. no more ... to much work easer just to throw them in the run.. and watch them run after them.

Sean your videos are very inspiring.    I have attached pics of the Coop and run.  Judging from the severe winter I had here i S Jersey, with temps at 0 for several days in a row, I insulated the interior so their body heat will stay in.  The insulation is covered with masonite to keep them from pecking through it.  BTW, all of the openings have doors to close them and the closures are also insulated.   I will not receive the chicks till next April as I want to raise them from babies.

Sean and Ivar I also attached a pic showing how far (little) I got done on the blower last season.   On the good side I ordered and received all the brass basics that I THINK I will need to proceed without a minimum of hold up.   From what I can tell, I'm going to use a small battery operated driver, but time will tell   I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Ray was the original inspiration for this, and his posting of the vanes used were very helpful.    LG

Jerry, Yes it is the same impeller that Ray used, I painted mine black.    Please post pics of yours incase Ivar hasn't seen them.  Yours is  similar to the one he is making, and yours is beautiful, and fully functional.    Thank You.
