Yardtrain
So what happens to Polks' inventory?
Rayman4449
My guess is they didn't have much inventory and most was prob sold to the dealers. Could also be that he slowly sells what he has left through dealers till runs out. Not sure we will see blow-out sales like last time but will see. I was able to secure a significant amount of stainless flex track. I had looked at their track before but it was around $13.50 a square ft. My next step is to select a rail joiner. I'll probably go with Split Jaw in stainless. I had them in brass in a small layout in our yard for a few years with no issues. But, I have to over think and over research it like I always do. Rayman4449
I do strongly recommend Stainless steel rail and stainless steel split jaws, you will be glad you did later.

Chuck
Sure you bought enough??
enginear joe
I have both the brass and the stainless split jaw fasteners that go directly on the rail. The stainless ones are much stronger at holding the rail from any twisting. The brass is softer and can get damaged easier.
enginear joe
I believe most of mine came from RLD.
todsmods
Man thats alot of track !!!
Rayman4449
Impressive! Looking forward to seeing some of that deployed I would have to check for the last place I purchased them from, it may have been ebay direct from Split jaw themselves. Get the direct-to-rail clamps, not the over-the-joiner type.
Rayman4449
I would check out G Scale Junction http://www.gscalejunction.com/, send an email and ask about pricing. Good folks there.
mark_s
You can get them direct from Jerry at www,railclamp.com Reindeer Pass also usually have them in stock.
Yardtrain
I just ordered 50 from eBay to get started. Didn't get shipped until I asked about them. Will probably go direct thru Splitjaw next time.
Yardtrain
50 Split Jaws showed up today
Yardtrain
Split Jaw on AML track. I was taken back a little at the finish on both the track and the clamps. Not in a bad way. I was expecting a polished look.
Rayman4449
I hadn't seen the AML rail before, looks good.
Ed Headington
I have had some AML brass track for some time now, and it works just fine. It is also 100% compatible with my Aristo track as far as I can tell. Ed
Rayman4449
The AML does look nicely extruded. For comparison here is Aristo SS rail next to HR Trains Aristocraft SS: HR trains SS:
Yardtrain
Raymond,. Thanks for the comparison photos. The photos look like brass ?
Rayman4449
Sure thing. The photos have a warmer temp color due to the auto-settings of the camera (that is the reason for the slight yellow tone to the pics) but that is all SS rail. Yardtrain
The see that the web on the AML track is much thicker than the H&R track. As far as train operation it won't matter. I wonder if bending it will be more difficult.
Rayman4449
It will contribute some to bending but I see the base width and thickness as playing a significant role as well. Not enough to worry about either way or in either case.
