	I've always wanted a PA-ABBA set, but all that I have is 3 PA A's and 1 PA B with an extra B shell.  So, I am converting an A to a B frame.  The PA A is different on one end and is curved, so I am making a mold of one of the ends of a B unit and then attach it to the A frame.  Rather than cutting off the section of the B frame, I am making the mold without cutting the B frame.  Took me awhile to figure out the method, but I think I have it, won't know until the first half of the mold is made and then I will go from there.  Here is what I have so far and will continue the post when the silicon sets up on the first half of the mold.<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://www.gscaletrainforum.com/uploads/monthly_2025_04/IMG_0547.JPG.8700c7d19344439c0ed5e40aeaba5b28.JPG" data-fileid="10542" data-fileext="JPG" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="10542" width="563" alt="IMG_0547.thumb.JPG.88f88849e719228a415c9c1015a92994.JPG" src="https://www.gscaletrainforum.com/uploads/monthly_2025_04/IMG_0547.thumb.JPG.88f88849e719228a415c9c1015a92994.JPG" loading="lazy" height="748.79"></a>

	Since I bought this printer, I thought it is about time to build a model of the helicopter that I flew in Nam.  This printer is amazing.  Using PAHT CF, a nylon and carbon fiber mix, you can't see any lines, almost like a resin print.  I bought this model online and re scaled it to 1:18 from 1:48.  There is a million parts to print, but it is fun.  I can really recommend this printer because it is so easy to print with, litterally, load your file, slice it, push print, unbelievable.  I am printing two parts at the same time right now, Bob.

	I came up with this method for sketch transferring so that I would not have to erase the grid lines from a drawing and have only the sketch on the paper or canvas.

	My outdoor layout is a fantasy design along the lines of Disney's storybook ride. I had looked for a Accucraft Casey Jr engine but seeing one go for 1k on an auction site convinced me to build my own. There is a log at mylargescale.com so this is just a simple post. I feel I'm about 3 weeks from finishing. He is almost all brass with Aluminum wheels. He's battery powered with RC control. Lots of little fiddly detail ahead and the construction of the trailing truck. For what he's worth, here is Casey!

	Hello all
</p>

<p>
	Help and advice requested.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I recently bought an MTH NYC Hudson, a real beauty. I plan for it to pull my Morning Express consist of milk, freight and passenger cars. 10 to 12 cars in total all scratch built.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It seems to be in almost new condition visually.<span>  </span>I have not applied power to it yet in that I am totally unfamiliar with MTH electronics so I don’t know if and how it runs.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I would like to know if it is possible to convert this engine to dead rail operation. Battery powered and controlled with a Revolution train engineer. (My other engines run on it.)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I would like to have the lighting, smoke and a sound system work.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance.
</p>

<p>

</p>

	I am finally getting around to building an E7 A and B for  the Broadway limited with some Finescale cars.  This will complete my  4 trains with the correct locos with the correct, I hope, cars. I will have to replace the number boards on the cab to the earlier style. Bob.

<p>
	 I'm starting another build. There has been a request for a more detailed post on what exactly I do. I'll try and get the facts down and help anyone who desires it.
</p>

<p>
	The first tip (I'll call them) is to obtain as many drawings or pictures of the exact model and road number for the engine you wish to build as you can find. That includes the year desired to model. I learned that while building my first SD70ACE and even more on the MP15AC build. If you look at different versions, you'll never nail down the exact detailing. There are different models, phases of the builds, and then road specific details that the builder does for the order. Some stuff gets changed later on from upgrades. Some engines are involved in crashes or just worn out. When they get rebuilt, they can be upgraded. So looking at pictures from different years of the exact same engine can cause confusion.
</p>

<p>
	 Now a picture is flat. So obviously to make a accurate 3d model, we need another picture or drawing from the top of the engine. When we get several angles and views of each panel on the engine, we can use the known dimensions to help with any unknowns. I have used the published specs for the wheel diameter, overall length, width, etc., to determine what I'm looking to make elsewhere in the photo. You can either blow up the drawing or photos to match the desired scale or, you will have to calculate everything you make. Double check all the calculations to make your life easier.
</p>

<p>
	 The one thing that helps me the most, is that I like the modern era engines. So far the ones I've built, are all made of straight panels at various angles. Not having curves to duplicate makes the builds straight forward and easily repeatable. The cabs do have many angles though. I like to miter the plastic panels together for more gluing surface and that makes things tougher for me. Butt joints are fine and should be re-inforced inside critical areas with hot melt or more plastic pieces.
</p>

<p>
	So blah blah blah, I'm sounding like I know it all. I hope others can add anything going forward on this post to help any newcomers build models here. G scale does not have many new releases very often. Almost every operator I talk with, has at least one engine they desire that's not been offered yet. So I hope that they will try a build to gain experience. It opens a new set of eyes, to look at the rest of the hobby all over again.
</p>

<p>
	 I need to start transferring picture downloads here so I'll be back!
</p>

	G’day all,

<p>
	Greetings from down under.

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Long time lurker, first time poster!
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I’ve recently purchased “Tods mods” awesome Vline B class loco from another enthusiast. A project I’ve always wanted to complete but now I’ve managed to obtain this loco I’ll be going ahead and detailing this one up and giving it the TLC it needs (and it needs some!)
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here’s the build thread from Tod back in the day. <br>

<iframe allowfullscreen="" data-controller="core.front.core.autosizeiframe" data-embedauthorid="979" data-embedcontent="" data-embedid="embed6037088123" scrolling="no" src="https://www.gscaletrainforum.com/index.php?/topic/940-132-scale-victorian-railways-b-class-locomotive/page/3/&amp;do=embed" style="height:387px;max-width:502px;" loading="lazy"></iframe>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	This loco holds significance in my life as it use to operate up and down the local line via our local station at Wallan east on the Seymour line when I was a kid growing up and we use to take this service into to Melbourne for a day out.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	On the to do list:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Full repaint/respray in Tangerine livery of the 80s/90s
	</li>
	<li>
		Full detailing of loco to look more correct to period specs (cow catchers, horns , roof detail, paneling, Grills etc etc)
	</li>
	<li>
		Re wiring of motors and lighting and installation of Blunami and speaker set up.
	</li>
	<li>
		Installing cabs at both ends of loco
	</li>
</ul>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If anyone has ideas/guidance on the above and suggestions it is greatly appreciated. <br>

</p>

<p>
	I’d like to know if anyone has done a blunami setup with speaker (s) and how they wired it all up and if anyone knows where to obtain grills for these fine locos. <br>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks again for looking no again thanks for the help
</p>

<p>

<p>
	Cheers

	I decided to start this project because I just like the looks of the T1 and obviously, I like a challenge.  This will surely be a challenge.  I will have to make new side rods, cab, and shell.  I bought an O gauge shell for reference.  I have some plans downloaded from the web.  I will have to make some of my own drawings to adapt and rearrange major parts.  The shell will involve a bit of art work to capture the T1 look.  What I have going for me is that the Hudson's wheels and arrangement are almost the same as the T1.  I will remove the rear axle of the Hudson and attach another Hudson frame to the front for the other two drivers.  I was surprised to learn that there is only one axle driven and the other two axles of the Hudson is actually driven by the side rods.. That can't be good for traction as they would be constantly accelerating and de-accelerating causing drag.  The Hudsons drive wheels are .150 in diameter less of the scale 2.5 wheel that would make it a scale 80 inch driver, but close enough. I had to relocate the cylinders closer to the wheels.  I just moved the mount on the frame closer, so it attaches just as the original just in a new place. The rod slide on the T1 has a single guide on the top, so I cut the bottom one off of the Hudson's. With some grinding, close enough.   The valve is really simple on the T1, one arm and that is it.  This project will be figured out as I go. Bob.

	I am sorry, I lied.  I am starting a new build.  I am stretching a Great Trains Superliner car and other cars to make a complete  consist for my P42s.  Here is the start, stretching the upper windows. Bob.
