Mike Wolf of MTH last week at Berwyn's Toys & Trains let it slip that a new MTH RailKing One-Gauge locomotive has been in the works for some time now. He said that the tooling is about finished and they will formally announce it in a few months....hmmm....:Slightly_Smiling_Face_Emoji(24x24):

I'm guessing that it'll be a steam engine of some sort..Maybe a N&W J or a NYC Dreyfuss perhaps? What do you think??

Here's the video and it starts with his announcement!

I can only guess about what engine he's talking about. There have been some mentioned over the past few years.

I built my own Evo demo after MTH did not release one as talked about. I also heard mention of a smaller steam engine.

A Dreyfus would seem easy if they re-used the Hudson chassis tooling.

A mohawk would be cool! or some 4-8-4. How about a Berk!

I would prefer modern stuff but I will buy whatever comes.

It's just good to see they hanging around. The SD70ACe is amazing to me. How about that EMD DDX. 😀

Yes it is good and reassuring that they're staying in it! Mike did say that he'll be at it until he's dead! Training the son-in-law to take over is also good news!

Would be nice if they made a DD40!

Okay so I removed a F unit shell to show the new drives and the big motors now in use...they measure about 1.5" in diameter. I think that's the same as the Big Boy motors? I don't know as everything is in storage.

I may have stumbled across what "new" engine MTH will be announcing.

An ES44 perhaps? So just a makeover from the older Dash-8 with updated drives using vertical motors?

I got that info from the MTH parts site when searching thru SD70 motors...

BE2500003 DC MOTOR / BLACK FLYWHEEL / PS3 / RAILKING ONE GAUGE ES44, F-3, F-7, ALCO PA, AND SD70 W/ VERTICLE MOTOR

YES!

I like modern stuff.

Mike W. had stated he wanted the Demo version of this engine with the charging lights. It didn't get made back then, so I built my own. It will be nice to see another well detailed release in G scale.

I forgot all about those Gevo engines with the charging lights! I'm in for a pair as "chasing lights" are very cool as I now remember you doing all the research when building yours! Hmm......

It appears that it's another better detailed release. I see better pilots and detailing. Looks like it has a frame too. All the detailing looks better than the Dash 8s. Even those have good detailing.

I'm excited for it to arrive.

I wanted walkway lights on the SD70ACes, flex hoses, and more steps. Everything else was there for me. They just keep getting better. Probably won't get premier level but these are very close if not fully there.

Maybe I can get some extra parts to finish my scratch builds too.🧐

I agree with you 100% as they do indeed look like an all new tooled product!

I like the fact as appears MTH is standardizing on 1 motor across the entire engine lineup...a nice big hefty version!

And how MTH can come in with full sounds priced under the Bachmann Dash-9...an engine that St. Aubin blew out at less than $200.

I just preorder the GEVO from Ray. Gotta have the charging lights.

Yep, me too as have both the Gevo and UP on pre-order with Ray!

Whew, Trainworld shows a delivery date of 12/31/2025 for some of them.

This one just shipped from MTH.

What's crazy is Trainworld raised the prices on these as the Gevo is at $900! 😒
