  1. Hello, I am new to the forum so this may not be in the correct category, but anyway, here's the scoop on my issue: I have a rare 1997 limited edition New Bright Holiday Express animated train set that my grandpa gave me when I was very little. It has an engine, a tender (which has the control board), and three cars. It has worked flawlessly until last christmas. The ribbon plug on the Candy-Dancer car became frayed, and I am getting together with one of my friends next week to help me solder it back on. What the real problem is is the tender. Now if you aren't familiar with this train set, the tender has 4 lighted gifts that flash in different patterns, and each lighted gift corresponds to one of the lights on the other 3 cars, and the cars are connected through 9-conductor ribbon cable with a plug on the end. seems that when the plug on the Candy-Dancer became frayed, it did something to the board in the tender and now only one of the 4 lighted gifts lights, and because of this, the lights on the other 3 cars don't light. I took it to my local hobby shop who misunderstood me and thought the bulbs were bad, but I tested the bulbs and they are all good. Please, if anyone is familiar with this set and knows what is wrong with my tender, PLEASE help me! By the way, the train still runs like new and the sounds work fine, but the lights are my favorite part!
