  1. Hey Mark, been the same here have run a few times so far, weather has been nice though.  I actually picked up a few items, bought a couple of the AML K4s and a USA PA ABBA set.. will post pics here at some point.  I've been keeping busy with a lot of other non-train related activities as well so not as much time available.

  2. Joe, Hehe ... If the sales were to be had in G they'd be making them for us.  I think that is a good idea to keep in their ear about what you want as consumers and also try.  I know I was doing that for a time trying to get a DD40 out of them :)   BTW, I suggest that anyone wanting a DD40 drop a line to USA Trains as well.  I would REALLY like to see them make one.... While I'm pretty tapped out as far as buying any more engines in G scale, I would be all over a DD40!

  3. Hi, yes that's it and you will be good to go.  On the Bridgewerks Mag 15, do not get that and use it alone...  That is an unregulated power brick that is intended to be used with their line of unpowered throttles and outputs 35v+.  When used with the unpowered throttles, the power the track sees is controlled by the throttle and is actually good you have that much voltage if you need it, but it is not a good idea to use this alone.

Bridgewerks Mag 15 (unregulated brick):  Do not use unless using unpowered throttle to regulate

What I would get is one of the Magnum SR series if you don't need a PS that outputs over 15amps: (there are 5, 10 and 15amp models)

The USA Trains power supply will work fine in your case.   If you were trying to signal 250ft+ of track I might more strongly push you to a bridgewerks but with what you're doing the USA will be fine.

    Hope that helps.

  4. Joe covered it... If you are using the TIU and remote it doesn't matter what power supply you use with it, you will always have access and control to all the available features.  The only time you lose features is if you are using an MTH AC power supply (with bell and whistle buttons) without using the TIU and remote and switch to a DC power supply when not using the TIU and remote...(as Joe said just running the trains on straight track power with no digital control via the TIU and remote) then you will not be able to trigger the bell and whistle with the power supply buttons because they aren't there.

The DCS commander is a remote, TIU and power built into one unit.  Since you already have the TIU and remote I would get a separate DC power supply and not bother getting the DCS commander.  Since you are going to be powering a relatively small oval you should be able to use just about any power supply and it work with no issues.

The USA Trains power supply should work good. (Although I'm a big proponent for Bridgewerks)

    Hope this helps some.

  5. Hehe...

On the new boards question I'm not what is meant exactly.   O gauge engines have been shipping with PS3 for the last year plus so PS3 is out.  MTH refers to the board they are using in O as their "O/G" board so the "O" boards were designed with G in mind.  PS3 board development should not be the thing that holds up the roll-out of any One Gauge offering.

Don't have information on any changes they are making with regards to couplers and hadn't heard any were required to utilize the existing couplers.  The Protocouplers are basically a solenoid and would expect that if there was a modification needed, it likely isn't too much.  You short power through a coiled wire to create a magnetic field to activate the coupler.  Other designs should still basically be a solenoid.

Yes the new lighting circuits are all LED and from what I've seen of the factory engines they are nice and proper white light so the upgrade kits will have the same lights included for install.

  6. Hey Jerry, just glad I could help!

Most current update from an email received today by fellow member Ben S, MTH will release an electronic only version of the 2013 One Gauge catalog and is targeting the end of May for it's release.

  7. Hi,

Welcome to the forums.  I would direct you to this topic where we have discussed MTH and their remaining in G scale.  MTH has recently confirmed (Sept 2012) in an interview with Andy Edlemann, VP for Marketing that they are in fact remaining in G scale.  MTH was supposed to release a 2013 catalog in March but given that we haven't seen it yet it may be delayed.  Any future production of engines 4-8-4 or whatever will hinge on their release of a catalog. When we see a catalog and what is listed we will know exactly what they will be making.
