  1. It would be so nice to have the variety in G-scale th as t exists in O-scale,  without spending thousands of dollars per engine. Maybe that day will come in the future?  Used MTH 0-8-0's and 2-10-0 decapods for five bills or so. Maybe.

In the meantime, they make the best ( In my opinion ) engines for the money and are beautiful models.

    1. NYC J1E  HUDSON W/SPOKED WHEELS !

    2. PRR. Decapod

    3. Santa Fe 4-8-4

    4. Santa Fe  4-6-2

Those are my top 4 MTH wishes for the not too distant future  (I hope )

Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions, thanks!

It's something I would have to see.  Is this part of repairing an engine or just a loose motorblock for a DIY project?

It's from the engine I'm re-painting right now. I guess I'll just slowly remove the screws and if it turns out to be something I can't handle, Ill send it to you.  I'd still like to do the PS3 upgrade on my Hudson, but have to wait till I have extra funds. Thanks !

  3. Greetings fellow G-scalers,

I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced a noisey MTH Dash-8 motor and have opened it up to try and fix it. Mine is making a grinding noise and frankly, I'm afraid to open it. Fearing a hoard of springs or something will jump out and I'll never get it back together again.  Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

  4. Hello everyone,

I need some opinions and suggestions on painting my MTH Dash-8.

I've seen pictures of this engine, as new and they are glossy. I've also seen plenty of older units with satin, or flat paint.

I could paint it gloss and then use a dull coat after applying the decals. Should I use gloss, or satin ?

I also wanted opinions on removing old paint. I've tried isopropyl alcohol and oven cleaner with no effects on the paint. I could use something stronger, or like I've always done, just use very fine sandpaper to rub out the decals and prime it. Any thoughts ? Thanks for your time.

  5. Just bought a used mth gauge 1 Hudson and the volume is very low. You can hear it, but it sounds more like an HO model.

I tried a different hudson tender and it worked fine. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the fix might be. I could try another speaker, or ? I hope it's just the speaker.
