  1. I believe the two engines Scott was trying to get manufactured was the Consolidation and Pacific. Seems he is have problems in getting the factory to cooperate. Scott also delivers his track in new packaging that has "POLK" on the box.

Crest is selling Aristo brass rail clamps and metal wheels. Hoping we will see other parts such as smoke units, motor blocks and switch motors.

  2. I was there first half of the day Friday. Worst attendance I have ever seen. Talked to Scott Polk, he is trying to get some steam locomotives built. Talked to Navin at Crest and looks like the REVO will soon have some new diesel sounds. There was plenty of new (Aristo) Polk track available including Stainless. I picked up two SS wide radius switches for $49.50 each from RLD. It seemed to me because of the shortage of new product that the old stuff is demanding high prices. Picked up an Arito GP-40 for my grandson. There was some new MTH stock for sell. I have always attended both days but not this year. It was really empty, I remember bumping my way through the crowd, this year I could have rolled a bowling ball from one end of the building to the other with out hitting someone.

I would have bought more but could not find what I wanted or could buy it mail order for same price.............Jim

  3. Got this email today from Crest. I will stop to see them at the show.............Jim

    Dear CREST Customer,

Don't forget to visit me at the ECLSTS in York, PA, this weekend where I will be showing a new “reveal†product that you will want to see. Also, we have rail clamps and G-Gauge wheels now back in stock. We are making these available through our dealers at the show, so please let them know what you want in advance of the show.

I’m pleased to tell you that the Revolution boards and sets are also back in stock and can be ordered from our website or from your favorite dealer. The demand for this product remains strong, and it’s due to the reliability of the product’s performance and consistency of its in-stock positions. We have just recorded new diesel sounds right from the cab of real locomotives, so we will have these available still within this year.

We have made a change in that we only show a generic sound now, but there is an option to order either the diesel or steam version in the shopping cart. Frankly, it’s the same item and I add the correct sound at the time the order is placed. You will now see an option choice instead of "Add to the shopping cart," but the pricing is the same.

We also have received another delivery of our very popular O Gauge rollers and they are again available for ordering.

    Thanks for your continuing business!

  4. John,

    Welcome aboard.

Ballast allows for leveling the track and switches across the rails so the rolling stock does not lean.

Fastening track with nails is avoided because the track will expand or contract under hot and cold temperatures, it is better to let track to float.

You might try roofing paper with the fine stone glued to surface and laid over wood to keep it level. Ray Manley uses some like this.

  5. I used a brush with acrylic paint. Not happy with the yellow on the sides of the cab. I had to open a new bottle of paint and it did not spread well over the yellow paint I already applied and it was the same brand of paint.

I have a lot experience with acrylic on aircraft models and with a good paint and horse hair brush and some patience you can lay down a smooth coat of paint......Jim
