I like your intermodal train, Joe. That is one impressive train. The only "unit trains" I typically run are coal trains. I run a lot of coal trains between my coal mine and my power plant.
I saw a Big Boy in Green Bay a number of years ago. One thing I had never thought of was that apparently it was VERY hot inside the cab when they were underway. I heard temperatures in the summer inside the cab that I just couldn't imagine surviving in!! I guess that might be one reason they never built a BIGGER engine!
Kevin, those are beautiful engines. I always look with great admiration at kitbashed engines.
Joe, the GP40's just look nice, they run well on my less than perfect trackwork, and especially after I converted the motorblocks to the FA type, they draw very low current which gives me nice runtimes with my batteries. I just seem to have very little trouble with them and I like the looks, etc. (I have been very fortunate actually, and have very little trouble with any of my locomotives - which are mostly Aristo)
I like your diesels, Joe. In particular your BN SD40-2. I recently bought the same engine, and it seems to be a very good runner. I converted it to battery power with the receiver and batteries in a trailing car. I still think my favorite engine, though, is the Aristo, GP40.
Jim, the inside dimensions of the bridge are 5-1/2" wide. The height is 8" at the edges and 9" in the center. The only complication is that we do enter in one direction at an angle due to the curved track right outside the bridge. Would that fit??????
Stan, really nice video, thanks. I agree with others, the sound does sound pretty impressive, especially given the cost!!! That is one cool looking engine too. I am partial to the Great Northern colors. I have an SD45 in the same colors. Your railroad looks nice. Brings back fond memories of our visit out there a couple of years ago.
Mark, actually I purchased my last REvolution receiver from Robbie from his store and paid $82 for it. Now he says he will sell the new one with sound for $89. That is where I got my $7. Sounds like you got a better price at ECLSTS than I did via phone call with no specials in place.
That is really good news, Mark. Sounds like Aristo did okay for their price point!!!! And as you point out, one would hope that it will continue to improve as time goes on.
Mark, I would love to hear how you make out with the new Revolution receiver. It certainly sounds like it has promise. As near as I can figure, with RLDHobbies prices, you get the soundboard for about $7 above the former cost of the Revolution receiver. It is VERY hard to beat THAT price!!!! Anyway, I'll be anxious to hear how you like it when you get it up and running.
