  1. I haven't seen any news release yet but have put together that USAT is indeed going to be producing more SD70's.

RLD is showing taking pre-orders for a CPKC version. I did verify that last week with parts at Charles Ro.

Earlier today I was on the Winona's Garden Railway website and they show the same SD70 for pre-order and 3 different USAT 55' 4-Bay hoppers for 2024 production :Slightly_Smiling_Face_Emoji(24x24):

The hoppers going into production next year is great news!

  2. Hi Jan, Nice engine and thanks for the reply! I see a problem with it though as when it's in a curve, the front truck wheels leave the track! Perhaps it needs a little lube or something isn't working right or is bent?

Glad that you and Moritz is doing fine! :Slightly_Smiling_Face_Emoji(24x24):

  3. Well I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase one of the new Bachmann/ Aristo-Craft Evans boxcar with the Fred. Cost a bit of $$$ but what doesn't these days? Purchased thru Al Kramer still cost $192.55 with shipping & sales tax. First one of these I bought was a MRL version at St. Aubin for $79 on blowout sale.

Overall I am impressed with Bachmann's build quality as a very nice car. Then again they are made with Aristo's molds. They even stayed with Aristo's wheels as I was expecting the less than stellular Bachmann wheels.

I still think best bang for the buck for train length is the USA Trains 60' boxcar bought thru Ro for $112.95 + $10 shipping.

Bit weird to see an Aristo product in a Bachmann box :Smirk_Face_Emoji_large(24x24):

Fred battery box is nice but look at those wild wheel power pickups that are little rollers!

Rear Fred does flash with an on/ off switch.

I can't show it in a train because all the large scale stuff is packed away as I will be moving in the next few months. The O Gauge trains are just  for having some train roaming around.

    Nice crisp graphics!

  4. Sorry to hear of your situation. Can you post a pic of the motor? MTH Parts says it's a RS-545 but that's a huge motor and I find that hard to believe. Been quite a few years since I was into a Dash-8 drive. Far as pulling the worms...well good luck as they have them on there tighter than hell! Only thing I can figure is the worms are heated then pressed on. It's the same with the o gauge MTH stuff. Have to cut the shaft between the motor and worm then drive them out which usually bends the punch.

Yeah motors are tough to find and not only for MTH stuff. Aristo there was none for the Dash-9 for like 10 years. USA Trains was out of stock for a few years with the Hudson. I heard rumors that the Chinese manufacturers are no longer interested in small production runs. If you want a special motor made by Mabuchi and probably Johnson you have to order a minimum of 1,000 units or more.

  5. I see the new run of USAT SD40-2's are in!

And at the price of $419.95 each seems like a real "bargain" compared to the outrageous prices that Bachmann is demanding of say $769.89 for the Dash-9 &  GP40 (RLD Prices).  Looks like Bachmann is following Marklin/ LGB lead of pricing locomotives into the stratosphere!

I try to understand why the insane Bachmann/ Kader Holdings pricing as they don't really have any "skin in the game". All the Dash-9 & GP40 molds are some 15-20 years old by now. Bachmann corporate greed is all that I can come up with.

I see videos touting the "new" Dash-9...really?? Only real "new" diesel locomotives are the MTH SD70 & the AML GP60...wherever that thing is?

Here's the new USA Trains SD40-2's...I'm thinking about buying the Patriotic Version in 2 cab numbers. :Slightly_Smiling_Face_Emoji(24x24):
