Chuck
Well I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase one of the new Bachmann/ Aristo-Craft Evans boxcar with the Fred. Cost a bit of $$$ but what doesn't these days? Purchased thru Al Kramer still cost $192.55 with shipping & sales tax. First one of these I bought was a MRL version at St. Aubin for $79 on blowout sale. Overall I am impressed with Bachmann's build quality as a very nice car. Then again they are made with Aristo's molds. They even stayed with Aristo's wheels as I was expecting the less than stellular Bachmann wheels. I still think best bang for the buck for train length is the USA Trains 60' boxcar bought thru Ro for $112.95 + $10 shipping. Bit weird to see an Aristo product in a Bachmann box Fred battery box is nice but look at those wild wheel power pickups that are little rollers! Rear Fred does flash with an on/ off switch. I can't show it in a train because all the large scale stuff is packed away as I will be moving in the next few months. The O Gauge trains are just for having some train roaming around. Nice crisp graphics!
Screwy Nick
Chuck, is a nice car, do like the roller pick ups, wonder if Bachmann has any intention of using them on all their stuff moving forward??
