Jim Miller
Just finished Revo and Phoenix P8 install. This is a real nice loco. Do not like the window awnings. May try to remove them. Have only run on 3 foot test track. Will get good run at church bazaar on fri and sat. I glued 3 magnets with reed switch on tender wheel and this gives all but perfect 4 chuffs per driver revolution. My install allows both track and battery operation with the throw of a switch.........Jim
Kevin Strong
Cool. I'm curious to why you didn't just use the optical chuff sensors? From what I've read, you're supposed to just be able to tie those directly to the chuff input on the Phoenix. Later, K
Jim Miller
Kevin, Well, I tried to but did not work. Manual was confusing to me. So I did if the old proven way since I need to be ready for a run. My two K-27's, I hooked up to optical sensor with transistor per Paul Norton,s instruction. If someone figures it out I can change. If you hear anything let me know..................Jim
Ed Headington
Jim, hope you like it. That looks like a really nice engine. In 1:20 scale, it must be an awesome looking machine too! Ed
Jim Miller
Ed, what is the inside dimensions of your cover bridge? HaHa.................Jim
Ed Headington
Jim, the inside dimensions of the bridge are 5-1/2" wide. The height is 8" at the edges and 9" in the center. The only complication is that we do enter in one direction at an angle due to the curved track right outside the bridge. Would that fit?????? Jim Miller
Ed, not wide enough. So I guess we leave that one at home..................Jim
Ed Headington
Jim, Shucks!!! I had a feeling that would be the case though. That is one big engine!!!!! Must be really impressive going around your railroad. Ed
Jim Miller
Here is a link to some close up pics of Bachmanns new C-19. These pics are high def and you can zoom in and pan around, you can also loan load. The C-19 got a good run at the 2012 Bazaar. Ran it Friday & Saturday for about a total of 16 hours.................Jim https://picasaweb.google.com/Trainman24/C19#
Neil Robinson
Jim, Thanks for the tip about the three magnets on the tender. I'll give that a go as I've been asked by a good friend to install a Phoenix PB11in his new C19. I tried asking around for a circuit diagram for the C19 in order to compare it with that for the K27. My hope was to try and understand what changes, if any, would be needed to my earlier successful install in a K27 following Phoenix's published metod. Actually the long term plan is to have a go at installing MTH protosound with an MTH smoke unit. I'm hoping this would be relatively simple as, judging buy Bachmann's video the motor is fitted with an easily accessible flywheel. Incidentally, emailing Raymond Manley about this is how I was introduced to this forum.
Jim Miller
Niel, I think I`m going to install an Aristo smoke unit and if it works well then i will do two K-27`s. I also have MTH equip, great smoke units. Welcome to the forum...........Jim
