Screwy Nick
Sorry it took so long. https://youtu.be/4gNJxOVjOLE https://youtu.be/KU-87JRzAkQ Throttle is about 2/3 open and the steam pressure is between 20 & 25 lbs. The loco didn't care if I had the cars connected or not, but they don't weigh much any way as the logs are made of foam. I will probably need help in making this right, thank you. SteamPower4ever
Very nice Shays are so cool. Heislers too. I've had the pleasure of visiting Roaring Camp & Big Trees in Felton CA a few times. Rode the train into the redwood forest behind both types. Jens
Screwy Nick
Jens, you are one up on me, the only Shay I ever saw was down for repair, and I think it still is.
SteamPower4ever
Well, your little sidewinder there sure makes up for it. I bet it doesn't care much about what it's pulling.
Screwy Nick
A genteman on another forum got me thinking. Years ago I made a conversation coupler to go from link & pin to knuckle. Tomorrow (raining today) I will fill some 1:29 coal cars with sand and attach them to the loco. I can accurately weigh each car with my kitchen scale then we'll know in real weight. SteamPower4ever
Looking forward to that. To paraphrase from another forum I peruse: "Video or it didn't happen".
Screwy Nick
That was my plan, see ya tomorrow, weather permitting. LG
Screwy Nick
Here's the video of the cars with sand. Each car with sand weigh 5lbs. last still shows 30lbs pressure in the boiler, and it didn't seem to care pulling or pushing. https://youtu.be:/CRipuok985s https://youtu.be:/PZp8tRt9jfc https://youtu.be/y1MYN4TlgTs SteamPower4Ever, did it happen?
