My father was a carpenter, I grew up in his workshop and still use some of his tools today. I like the smell of freshly cut wood, cedar or pitchpine eg. Later in the salt mine, the smell was bad, musty and stale, plus the nitrous gases after blasting. That's why I use smoke oil with wood smell. So I'm not quite off topic now, just a little...

If you still have wheels made of stainless steel, maybe turn out the cone and retract plastic bushings, my idea.
These are wheels for most of MTH's diesels from the generation before 2011. I reduced the diameter by 1 mm. Since I always drive around to the right in a circle, I need new wheels from time to time.
Yes I remember, the engines had built-in ventilation, I think they had a heat problem. My machine never ran, I built it and put it away when I started MTH.

Hi Chuck, as always clean work. For 1/29 there is a lot of 3d printing, maybe there is something for you? In the picture with the bottom, the wheels don't look like Aristo, but I can be mistaken. The Gp 40 looks interesting on the roof, I don't know what it is yet.

Edit, I remember, why did you install a DCC decoder this time, are there no more parts or does MTH not have the sound of the Sd 45 ?

Thank you, I only installed the clutch on this Engine , which was completely new territory for me at the time. Even then, the Zimo decoder was able to control servos. Today there is already everything from Kadee in the Couplerbox, but I find it quite expensive.

On January 28, 1988, 2964 was working in Southern California when it was destroyed in a fire collision in Pico Rivera, California. Santa Fe's only GP40 had worked for the railroad for only four years. Bachmann builds the same locomotive number, my Aristo is from 2009. This is a nice machine, not too big with good running characteristics, I think. At that time I retrofitted everything that the 2964 had on the roof and for the rear a Kadee with servo drive, now it has been on the shelf for 10 years, as it happens....

Pre-ordering is not uncommon, there are no storage costs. For me it would be interesting if a base is created here or dealer who places my orders. Ordering directly is too expensive and time-consuming. I am thinking of spare parts. I would also rather order a locomotive here, because of the warranty etc. As it seems, we don't get together like this anymore
