  1. Wanted Accucraft Daylight articulated passenger chair car pair. (Gauge one) Brent
  2. John, Did you ever find these Freedom Train cars? Brent
  3. Looking for an Accucraft Guage One Cab Forward. Please contact Brent Groth at BrentGroth@Yahoo.com
  4. Jerry, Thanks for the help. I hope foam rubber on all sides is enough. I've got an Accucraft Cab Forward on lay-a-way, I plan to drive to California to pick it up. I's not only expensive to travel from SLC to southern Cal, there is the horrible California sales tax. But, what is the cost if the shippers get their hooks into it? The forum computer is telling me to open an access for these replies on my control panel to forward them to my email, or I will only receive one. I can't find this panel, can anyone send directions, a map, a hammer??
  5. Willing to sell a absolutely new MTH Big Boy. Never ran, never displayed all boxes including original shipping carton. Original manuals warranty cards, ect. Same price as January eBay sale ($2,300+shipping ) but in better condition, no exposure from display situation. Pick up preferred, near Salt Lake City, or will ship, your choice.
  6. I spoke of some new MTH steam that I might make available on the bottom of the thread on the other "Wanted Big Boy". The thread is from the member in Germany. I try not to use eBay, some great guys, but to many dis-honest ones. Ray Manley in KC, and I, have done business, and I like him, too.
  7. If anyone else is looking for a MTH Big Boy, I have one never run, never out of the box. I'm not excited to get rid of it, but I might be talked out of it. I also have one each of the MTH Challengers that might be available. Please understand there is nothing wrong with these. I was working with Walt Permann, who owned Custom Model products, a distributor of Accucraft, and Row, brass in gauge one. When he passed, and the distributorship closed, I purchased some of his inventory. So, the MTH that are duplicates of the brass, MIGHT go.
  8. I would like to buy a Row (Samhongsa) Gauge One Cab Forward. Either cab number is fine, 4274 or 4294. Please contact me directly BrentGroth@Yahoo.com or phone (435) 714-2369
  9. I would have spelled missing correctly, but I ran out of room, sorry. I know seems strange, but I'm looking for a second half of a Accucraft articulated pair of Daylight cars. Let me know if it is something you have heard of, please.
  10. Chuck, I don't have an observation car yet, but the three dome pieces are on their way.. I didn't know Ro had a Lay-A-Way plan, interesting. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I try to support the little guy since my business is one. Thanks Brent
  11. Thanks Chuck, I spoke to both my dealer and Ro today. I don't have any huge rush, just want to get rolling before the Zephyr cars are not available for some reason. But, I don't want to have buyers remorse. I bought a 13 car set of USA Daylight cars and later found a 16 car set of Accucraft, no comparison. I lived blocks from the Zephyr station and knew it well. USA's are nice, but? I don't want to hear later of a more prototypical version. My dealer has a set of USA's in stock and will accept lay-a-ways, so there are advantages over buying from Ro direct. Brent PS I love USA's prototypical folding steps. That's the only advantage over Accucraft's Daylight cars.
  12. Chuck, While I would prefer a set with an already modified Observation, I am a firm believer in buying through dealers, so I will talk to mine. Brent PS Maybe Pig Turd Alley will see trains again.
  13. Chuck, I only found one damaged diner on ebay. I can buy new ones as cheap as that. Were you referring to other cars or a set that I missed? Thanks, Brent
  14. Do you remember how many cars he had? Not a member, While I have a house in Amador. I still go to work in Utah, so I don't belong to SVGRS. I assume you live near Sacramento. How do I contact you or his family faster than this? My number is (435) 714-2369
  15. I've just come across some 12 foot lengths of rail. They look used but not by much. Probably out of a mine shaft. There are at approximately fifty 12 foot lengths. The top surface of the track is about an inch across, and measures two inches high. $1,200 for the whole lot. They are near Salt Lake City, Utah if interested. email BrentGroth@Yahoo.com
  16. Ray, I'm all for the restoration of 2926 and all steam that's still savable. But, in your back yard (Topeka, Kansas) is another Santa Fe Locomotive that could easily be ruined beyond recovery. I'm speaking of 3463. There is a group trying to "modernize" her and take her to 120 MPH to prove their point of modern steam power. I have been told this same group has tried this before and already ruined one locomotive in a previous attempt. Anyone who wants to help, let me know if you need the contact info of the group in Topeka who are trying to preserve 3463. I'm in touch with their legal council. BrentGroth@Yahoo.com
  17. I'm looking for a long set of USA Zephyr Cars, Now I'm aware these are not prototypical, so if anyone knows of a more accurate set made, please let me know.
  18. I proposed to Bruce at the time of his trying to decide if he should tear it down, or not, a combined effort. My house is close enough we could have a main line from my place to his and he would concentrate on the small radius trains while I was going to have brass Daylights and Cab Forward citrus blocks coming through on an upper level. He hesitated and almost canceled the ripping up of the road, but said he wanted to think about it. Sadly he decided to destroy it. . My next proposal was to buy all his buildings, but he said he wouldn't separate anything. I wasn't interested in the mining engines and so we parted. Next, I heard he had an auction and sold everything one piece at a time. I wasn't told or I would have bought the buildings, but I guess it wasn't to be. The final insult was a load of gravel covering what was left of the roadbed and track. Now it is a parking lot with a couple of cars regularly parked on it. They come in just north of where the hydraulic mine was. Sad! i hope to retire to my home out there and build my mainline. Meanwhile I'm looking for a large set of USA California Zephyr cars to go with my Sacramento based layout.
  19. While at a train show in Salt Lake City, about 2005, I got to see the Prototype of the MTH Big Boy in Gauge one. Years later, I put a MTH Big Boy (MSRP $1.299.95) next to a Row Big Boy (MSRP $11,500.00) with exception to cab detail, they were very similar in appearance. The cab detail in the Row was to a higher level, especially the open back of cab version. I didn't have the opportunity to run either one, but the Row did weigh about 50 lbs as I recall.
  20. While my layout is to feature the trains of Sacramento (Southern and Western Pacific) our traincahollics are looking for the guest appearance of a MTH, gauge one, Delaware and Hudson pair of PA's and their MTH passenger cars. If anyone out there has some of these, or all of them for sale, I'd appreciate it.
