Screwy Nick
Chuck, WOW, seems USAT over complicated this one. Knowing you, you'll have it huffin' and puffin' before all is said and done.
Chuck
Yes...fine German engineering! Or should state fine German over-engineering as think it's a Marklin design.
Chuck
Now I see that Charles Ro Supply changed the store hours as not open on Saturdays anymore. 9 - 5 Monday thru Friday only.
Screwy Nick
To me that says they no longer want the 'walk in' business. That is a loss for those close enough may want to see a locomotive run before laying down a lot of $$. And mail order only is a good way to ignore customer problems. Sorry to say I see dark clouds on the horizon.

BrianUPheritage
Well, I got the FEF out for the second time this morning and decided I was going to try running with the sound off. As I toggle the button to turn the volume down nothing happened so i tried turning up the volume. That was a big mistake now its extremely loud and I cant seem to do anything to fix it. Chuck do you have any recommendations for me? If anyone else has experience with the FEF or Phoenix sound I would love to hear it. Thank you, Brian
BrianUPheritage
Ok, I final got it turned down. Not off but at least I can be in the same room. Ridiculous. Brian
Chuck
Hi Brian, Glad you got it figured out. Have to toggle then hold switch over to the side for a bit for volume to raise or lower with Phoenix sounds.
BrianUPheritage
I have a Hudson & mallet with Phoenix sound so I am familiar with it. I messed with it again this morning cant get the sound off but I did manage to get it a little quieter. Brian
Screwy Nick
Brian, your post got me curious, so set up my Hudson. YES the volume switch should get the volume all the way off. Could Phoenix have revised the newer boards where the sound won't go completely off with the volume switch? Does your's Chuck??
Chuck
Yes mine turned all the way off but I don't use that board now for anything but to operate the cylinder smoke fan.
Chuck
Well I've been tweaking the FEF's smoke and I'm pretty happy with it now. Infact I can only have it on for a minute or so as it smokes out the house...and it should!
Screwy Nick
I knew if I was patient I'd see a video of your FEF belching away. GREAT JOB. Is there a large enough section of your layout where we can see it pulling and belching??
Chuck
Nick, No as 99% of layout has been dismantled as plan on moving this spring.
Screwy Nick
but on the bright side, maybe to a place with more TRAIN room??
