enginear joe Posted July 22, 2014 Share Posted July 22, 2014 I have been looking for a modern version of the Occidental tank cars in G scale. I got some in O scale. I could order some cars from USA or MTH, and re-paint them and add decals. I was wondering if anyone here knew how many cars make a minimum order for the custom runs like the stores do? benshell Posted July 23, 2014 Share Posted July 23, 2014 Hi Joe, I've heard the minimum order is 100 for USA Trains American Series cars, like the billboard reefers. I think it's about $5000 for 100. They are actually made in America so they can do custom runs in a reasonable amount of time. But that doesn't help you since the tank cars are part of the Ultimate Series, made in China. I'm not sure what these minimums are, but no matter what it is it seems to take years to get anything produced! And unless you want a LOT of cars you'll need to re-paint and use decals. The smaller the scales go, it seems there's so much more to choose from. I want to see if Aristo ever releases that new tank car they talked about.
