  1. Staring at each model or scratch build attempt, I see different radii was used. I might even guess that the prototypes got changed during their production. Personally I would size the curves off of pictures of the real cars, using the car number you're building. The view would have to be straight on and you could scale the picture up or down with the computer's zoom. When it looks right to you, it will pass with all of us!!
  2. Do you have any spare parts from an O scale steamer? (wireless drawbar parts... plugs, drawbar, receptacle...)
  3. No rush! Whenever you get the sides cut is fine. We are all waiting!!!!
  4. RLD seems to buy them too and will pass on the savings to customers. I usually find a good price afterwards. I'd have to think that the average brick and mortar stores hate when the manufacturer sells direct at any less than list price? I also think that any sales help the manufacturers decide what to make and how successful they were. There's only so many customers in America for modern G scale stuff. How many? I have no idea.
  5. It is nice that they are finally arriving. It did take a painfully long time. I have a mental list of cars that I would like to get. I still want USA more autoracks. I do like the bethgons and want more. So this car will have to wait for me, now that it's here. Maybe I'll get at least one soon just to have. I like variety in my trains.
  6. Try the Sears 5 gallon shop vacs. The ones with the round cartridge filter, no bags. I own three of them. I would not buy anything else. One yanked a sheet off of a table in a home I was cleaning after doing work inside. The dishes on the table stayed in place. It took several minutes to get the sheet out of the vac. That sold me on only buying them from then on. They have suction better than any other I had tried for a reasonable price.
  7. I had one platform end of a modern big USA tank car just disintegrate like that. It must have been cast for it to just fall apart.
  8. Ooops. Were those drawbars? Ah well, I really was asking about the side rods anyways!
  9. WOW Jerry! Congrats. ...and thanks for sharing. I wonder how much one side rod weighs??
  10. That's Dave (Rooster) and he put it in there as a joke. His Amtrak stuff is much larger than what I started building. I held one of his cars at York and it was very heavy. They look very good too. There's nice drawings on this page http://www.trainweb.org/willstrainart/Rollingstock_line.htm
  11. Ooops. On the top right of the post (scroll up top) is a Bell looking icon. Click on that image. It will allow you to make changes so that you are notified automatically to your posts, and replies as you'd wish.
  12. I'm not sure? I get them automatically. As I'm typing a reply, I see a switch button on the bottom left of this screen that says "notify me of replies" Maybe try that?
  13. He goes by a same name here http://forums.mylargescale.com/11-public-forum/8470-great-trainsa-information-4.html Looks like Ray built them first? or did he buy them?

  15. I haven't seen his posts recently? I will do a search. There's something funny about that post. I am signed in yet when I view that one, I am not signed in. So I'm guessing that was an old post that is archived. You can't sign in to those I guess?
  16. YES! http://www.largescalecentral.com/forums/topic/15272/great-trains-superliners-cars-lo
  17. I'd rather be wrong about it! It's beautiful and is partially a shame that it doesn't run. With all that work, it would make one heck of a showpiece running at a club.
  18. if I remember correctly, that GP Chessie doesn't run? It was just a static model?
  19. I really did not think of that! Sorry.
  20. Someone here might be able to help you. I was wondering if just maybe USA Trains might have one for their GG1 that you could get? http://www.usatrains.com/usatrainspartsmenu.html They only list a parts number to call. When I've ordered parts from them, they were helpful to me in getting what I needed.
  21. I found a video that maybe of interest for your next build? Maybe not.
  22. Look at her pull out at 2:30 into the video without breaking a sweat! I want one!
