  1. Made some great buys at the 2014 ECLSTS. All items are 1/29 scale AML. Also got a new Bachmann Annie with metal gears for my Grandson; this is his first large scale train................Jim
  2. Jens, welcome aboard. Enjoyed you photos and video, great stuff......................Jim
  3. Pola often supplies parts that are not needed for the building you are putting together. This is because they make buildings that use similar parts but with minor differences so they just supply same parts for all similar buildings. For glue I use Plastruct - PLASTIC WELD SOLVENT CEMENT, 12 2oz. BOTTLE ................Jim
  4. Kevin, you can get one here.......Jim http://www.jimmyflintstonestudios.com/viewitem.php?productid=150
  5. Over the winter months I look for Diecast vehicles and people to populate my layouts. This year I found a milk delivery truck and a milk man that had to be assembled and painted. Some of you maybe too young to remember when milk was delivered to the home; very early in the morning.
  6. Parts of my layout are still under snow. Love the Challenger, thanks for the photo. Soon be leaving for York train show. Will be there Friday and Saturday, temp of 50's predicted. Maybe the show will get rid of these blues..................Jim
  7. Code 330 track is a must on my outdoor layout because of me and the deer stepping on it. ........Jim
  8. Raymond, will MTH run on code 200 track?...........Jim
  9. On my MTH Northern which I modified to run on battery I came up with a way to lift the slider up while running on battery and then they can be lowerd for track current operation. You can use this method to test unit without removing the sliders until you are satisfied with operation. I lift up the slider, then take a piece of plastic tubing and force slip it over slider bolt that runs thru the spring. This holds up the slider. To lower slider just pull off the tube. ...........Jim
  10. I believe the high end Bachmanns like K-27 and C-19 have metal gears...................Jim
  11. I guess a good question to ask is how many cars are people pulling with the engines.................Jim
  12. It is because of the Triplex that I started acquiring MTH engines, it was the first one I purchased. It even looked good pulling 1/29 Aristo 100 ton hopper cars. Now I have VO1000, PA's, Hudson, Northern, Big Boy, and two GG1's. I modified the 4-8-4 GS-2 to run on battery or track power thru DCS so I can run it on my friends layouts. The biggest problem with the early Triplex was UPS, they seamed to damage everyone in shipment in spite of excellent packaging. I believe MTH now uses FedEx. What a great entertaining Loco...............Jim
  13. Can't go wrong with green.................Jim
  14. Thanks Ray, that is good to know. Now I feel dumb.............Jim
  15. Looks like you would have to buy the AA to get cab no 4270 and the single unit to get the other cab no 4271. I believe two different cab numbers are requires for the DCS to recognize each engine. Gets quite expensive................Jim
  16. Rayman I have an AA set of PA's and the second unit is a powered slave unit so it can not be run by itself. Are the new F7s the same. Would be nice if each unit could be run alone................Jim
  17. I purchased a slightly used one on Ebay a few years ago when new ones were all gone.
  18. Thats great. I really like this loco. Maybe it will get quieter as you break it in. Keep us up todate.........Jim
  19. Go Jerry Go. The MTH Hudson is a good runner, very smooth. Your layout is really looking good...........Jim
  20. Holding the books upright maybe a challenge due to play in bolster to truck interface and if the trucks actually have sprung suspension. Any lateral motion will start the car to rock and tip over. If this can be over come, maybe a gondola car would be used. Then Styrofoam blocks could be wedged between both covers of the book and the two sides of the car to hold it upright................Jim
  21. They are beautiful, nice job. Thanks for posting................Jim
  22. This years layout is totally different with a new tree which is a half tree set against the wall. So there is no train under the tree this year. There will be no little items this year because the 3 new kittens will carry them away. This is what has been done to date. Will post more as it develops...............Jim
  23. Mike, looks good. Perfect for under the tree. You might consider some Piko buildings, top quality stuff....................Jim
  24. Mark, looks like about a 2 hour drive for us..................Jim
