  1. Many years ago I bought rubber diaphragms and found them to be just too stiff causing more problems than the addition of the look. This month's Issue of Steam in the Garden has a great article on how to make them using paper. The author is Simon Duhamel and he said he also made them in HO. I don't think I can quote due to copywrite laws, but if you know someone who has the issue, would be something to try. SITE ADMINISTRATOR: if this is in any way against any rules, please delete it, thank you
  2. Joe, this locomotive was originally expected in October and the date kept getting moved, that's why I said I'd be FOOLED again. hope to post some pics when it does get here.
  3. Sorry, just couldn't help myself, not really expected for another one week. After that week, I've been fooled again, lol lol . I actually enjoy the anticipation of waiting for any new train or parts.
  4. I too got an Email from them showing the items they presently offer. Hope that grows too, I may order the tie strips as I have plenty of rail but few ties. The last time I ordered rail from them I had to order the ties from a different supplier.
  5. I have a Fairymead on order, original delivery date was October. After several delivery dates came and went, the distributor finally sent me a final bill and I am to expect delivery in ABOUT two weeks. I didn't order the fancy one, just plain black. When it gets here I'll do some posting on the Live Steam Category if anyone is interested.
  6. Ray, thank you for the advice, will attempt to do that today. nick jr
  7. Kevin, thankyou for the advice. I bought a toy on Amazon two years ago for my grandson, still getting adds for toys. I researched another item and I get adds for everything related to it. Must be big money in it, cause the equipment isn't cheap.
  8. I have only scanned the site since the owners have been changed. I have NOT LOGGED ON. I am very reluctant to being tracked and having my viewing choices and address book subject to advertisiers, or am I just fooling myself by not formally signing in???? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  9. Joe, I see 1:1 trains like that when I am heading N on the NJTpk, big sidings in Elizabeth near the refinery. I don't know what they are carrying but I assume they just connect to the end car and they are all emptied at the same time. I'd love to see a video of the process.
  10. Ray, did the guide rail adjustment yesterday, PROBLEM SOLVED. Hope to stop at Home Depot or Lowes for the roofing material, really like that look.
  11. Ray, thank you, going to your web site and check it out, very glad that it comes in a roll for as you said to minimize the seams.
  12. Ray, I have one #6 that gives me problems with couple of cars. Going to do your fix and bet it doesn't happen again. ??? if I may, is that roofing shingle under your track?? I have an elevated track and would like to do something to make it look a little more realistic instead of just decking.
  13. Chuck, Thank you, I'm on the bottom of that learning curve too.
  14. it IS a cute little bugger, and it is very powerful. I don't know exactly how many cars it will pull, but I bet at least twice as many as I had on it as it is heavy for it's size. Also it is a great steamer as the tank part is very insulated and very hard to keep the pressure down to 40lbs. I even have the wire for the LED head light running through the saddle tank and isn't harmed at all. WEBMASTER, thank you very much, actually my FIRST Utube posting.
  15. thought I posted my congratulations and I am very glad to be here as a member yesterday, must not have done it right so I am making sure to try again today. Looking forward to a pleasant 'exchange of ideas', thank you for bringing this site to us. after looking some more, I did post it yesterday, but under another title, I better get my act together BTW, please explain to me what "warning points" are, I don't think I want to be awarded any of them.
  16. received the first Chuffer that Summerlands designed for the Dockside Switcher, usual easy install, big improvement The stock number is SCAC25
  17. Chuck, thank you, I am at the bottom of the learning curve but getting the idea of it. Ordered more parts to do it to other locomotives using the same transmitter. SEE, ya can teach an old dog new tricks.
  18. Received my new Mountaineer from Roundhouse last week. They used a new (to me) site glass. It connects to the boiler in the normal way, but has a flat front with easier viewing. It of course runs like Roundhouse. I also modified the Transmitter to change the Fwd Rev to up and down, removed the spring and installed a wiper like an article in SiTG, only I put a dimple in the wiper and grooves in the wiped surface to hold F, N and R. Very happy with the locomotive.
