  1. Well the kids Christmas just got better and just got the word the 2 Christmas cars are now out from MTH.
  2. Sorry Ray did not mean to imply that the 2 companies were the same nor did I want to start a debate. I agree with the 2 year rule as it has proven to be true (GS4 was worth the wait.). So sorry for kicking the dead horse was just being hopeful on the baggage cars.
  3. Wow 4 months, makes sense with the chinese new year. wonder how many things from MTH will slip. was hoping to see the baggage cars this month but not holding my breath.
  4. Pretty sure it was a scam posted over a year ago.
  5. Just got an email from MTH saying the 2019/2020 1 gauge catalog will be online 6-24 the cover looks very interesting with the D&RGW heritage ACE and the tender for the Grey and yellow challenger on the cover.
  6. I would also apply some anti-seize to the bolts. stainless is soft and the bolts can get galled up in the clamp.
  7. Lets not forget the problems from China. A lot of different scales felt the effect of the sudden shutdown of a large producer. My understanding is USA trains has recovered tooling and found a new build shop and will be starting up the ultimate line again. But I do agree the large size limits the amount of rolling stock 1 person might own.
  8. Hi Ray, Do you know if they plan on doing some passenger cars with Christmas lights to match the daylight like in O scale?
  9. Hi Ray and everyone, Just wanted to say thanks to all that contribute to this thread. It's a lot of fun to see how the Big Boy is coming along as well as all the history. The photos are amazing.

    MTH GS4

Anyone have any news on when we might see these engines?
  11. Hi everyone, Anyone know if MTH used the china company AFFA? they suddenly shut the doors due to the owners health. It has affected a lot of different scales just hoping not MTH. Been waiting forever on the GS4 hate to see it delayed again or canceled. Thanks, Dave
  12. guess they didn't want to sell anything 2 emails no response
  13. I'd be interested in the Challenger, Both UP E8s, And the UP sd70.
  14. This is a pretty good run down on battery, Sound, and remote installation on a USAT F3 http://ovgrs.org/the-trains/battery-power-radio-control-and-sound/usa-trains-f3-a/
  15. Thanks Ben worked out a deal with the gentleman cant wait to see the chrome
  16. I know its a long shot but I'm looking for a set of Santa Fe F3's. If you have a set you can part with please message me. Thanks , Dave
  17. I own one of the USAT Hudsons ( in UP paint ) and can tell you that mine at least runs like a champ. Its my favorite steam engine and pulls like a tank. Detail is great as well as the sound system. I would have no problem buying another. you might want to pick one up as I think they have stopped production of them.
  18. A link to it only $12 https://www.thetraindepartment.com/ttd-upgrade-valves/
  19. Hi Rich, New to this but have been following with interest. Sorry to hear it didn't go to well on the first run. I had a thought on the low speed problem. I've read the stock needle on the throttle has a steep taper so even a little motion will open it up. Take a look at TD77 Steam Valve Replacement. it has a fine needle and is supposed to help a lot with low speed operation. its a simple unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. uses the stock servo arm. That and the chain drive (looks very cool but long on your set up) should work great. Again I'm kinda new to this so hope others will chime in in either confirm or correct my suggestion. Dave
  20. Are yo looking to sell here? if so can you give more detail on the engines and cars I might be interested.
  21. Looking for USAT D&RGW SD40-2 any road number. Thanks
