  1. Aristo has already approved an additional 2.5 pounds without voilding the warreanty.................Jim
  2. Here are two videos. I also ran it on Ed Headingtons layout and for the life of me we could not get it to derail. What's up with that? I have mostly run it on battery power and can easly switch it to DC track power. Only problem is with #6 turnouts because of the under gauge at the rail points, slows up a bit due to binding. Also have same problem with AC Mallet and Mikado. Started to fix all of my #6's. That Stainless is hard to grind. I'm hoping that AC will come out with a GN Consolidation. If they do, I will buy one. Fun engine to run. Easy to handle and put on track. Good looking loco....................Jim
  3. I started setting up a small train display to entertain the kids at the church bazaar. This will be my third year and I just finished the layout plan and checked my track inventory. The first year was a double loop of 5 and 6.5 foot diameter curves and an C-16, GP-40 and a Hudson. The second year we had two loops with 8 to 12.5 diameter curves and ran all MTH. There was a GG1, 4-8-4 GS2, Hudson, ABA P1 Hudson & Delaware plus two buildings. This year will be two loops with two sidings and will run two Bachmann K-27's and a C-19 if it shows up in time. I hope to have 5 or 6 buildings this year. Lebanon, PA, November 9 & 10, if you are in the area, (ha ha), stop in for some food and a drink....................Jim
  4. Last spring at York they were demonsrating steam at the AC booth. Sounded good. Horn sounded real good. I know you were there Stan. Did you here the sample?..................Jim
  5. Here's a Revo sound wired up but not installed. This was my test setup. Imagine, R/C and sound with this little wiring............Jim
  6. Very nice work. I just got up enough nerve to paint the wheels on my Mallet. Came out better than I expected. Maybe some day you may catch me trying to build a loco. Guys like you inspire me...........Jim
  7. Good to be here. I like to share my toys and have fun..............Jim Miller http://www.youtube.com/user/trainman24?feature=results_main http://picasaweb.google.com/Trainman24/
  8. Another issue with these #6 turnouts is that the track gauge is way to small at the end of the rails that swing in to position for changing direction. I'm in the process of grinding mine so they swing further away into the side of the fixed outer rail. with a combination of grinding the end thinner and and reshaping it so it fits better into the recess of the fixed outer rail. I hope you are following me because I have no photos yet. The out of gauge is very obvious when operating Aristo steam. The pilot wheels on my malley rise up as they pass thru the switch. My Mikado slows as it binds going straight thru, same with the new Considation. I have 8 of these I'm working on. Slow work. Just got some diamond grinding wheels for my Dremal, hope this will speed things up...................Jim
  9. Another observation. Plasic will contract more than metal when the temperature is reduced therefore areas where plastic and metal attach over a common span they may experience thermal stresses. These stresses will get worse the colder it gets. I live in PA and store all but my MTH Loco's out doors. No problem as of now. The loco's left outdoors in unheated train barn do have R/C and sound boards.......Jim
  10. If anyone is interesrted here are the previous years open houses for the PA RR Museum..............Jim 2007 2008 2009 2010 - Mark was waiting on birth of daughter. 2011
  11. I bring my MTH locos into the house because each contains a rechargable battery.........jim
