Screwy Nick
Needed a steam fix, and this little guy was sitting there minding his own business. Outside temp 37'F and a little windy. We had fun.
Rayman4449
That is a cool little engine. Does it take long to get going?
Screwy Nick
It has a ceramic burner, the full diameter of the boiler, that produces a lot of heat. Even in today's temp it rose 40 lbs pressure in about 3 minutes. The hardest part of getting it going is spinning the fly wheel to clear the condensate from the cylinder. Once it's warmed up just a 1/2 turn will get it going or changing direction. I originally purchased it to power a model of the African Queen I intended to build. Liked the little guy so much, never built the Queen.

Screwy Nick
Thank you for the encouragement. Those who know me, are aware that I can never just leave well enough alone. Had some Teak Deck planking from the Salvage Tug I build a while back, finally put it to good use.

Screwy Nick
Couple observations concerning the Brunel: I sometimes fire up my LS in the utility room, which has CO and Gas detectors. All of my other locos will start showing gas withing 10 minutes of firing and if left alone they will start screaming in about 5 minutes more. The Brunel will come to a boil and spin along on rollers for about 20 minutes before any detection is made. Also, found the jet in the Roundhouse Praririe appear to be interchangeable.
